Mandelin’s Consignment began with the dream of two very close family friends … Rachael and Julie. One is older, one is younger … even though at times the younger one seems older and the older one seems younger. One is a creative genius and retail expert and the other one not so much. One had some money, some resources and a gift for gab and the other one not so much. Combine these talents with a love of fashion and a need to do something amazing yet environmentally friendly, (we are all about being green!) and we were on our way. That was 5 years ago. It took us some time but we never gave up the dream, it only got more and more vivid.
It was in Sept. of 08 that we took our first real steps toward making this thing happen. Neither one of us had ever owned a business. Everything was new… from applying for that first business license… to searching for the perfect location… to the complete renovation of that perfect location… to hunting down every fixture and piece of equipment we needed … and finally to opening our doors to the first consignors. It was both exhilarating and terrifying. It was everything we’d ever imagined yet much, much harder! Tempers have flared, tears have been shed and feelings have been hurt but with the unwavering support and incredible amount of help from our super talented and cute husbands… our children, our parents and our siblings we kept trudging forward.
Mandelin’s is truly a family affair. It’s even named after and for Rachael’s mom. Mandelin was her maiden name. She died almost 9 years ago of cancer at the age of 46. But her artistic flair and unique perspectives most definitely live on in her daughter…
So here we go…on this journey to who knows where. We have incorporated everything we know about people, about human nature, about beauty and about fashion into the creation of this shop. We hope you will love it as much as we do …
