Imagine our world if everyone followed this pure and simple rule….”Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” why is it so hard for some people to understand? If you are doing something to someone that you would not want them to do to you….then you are acting mean or spiteful… or I guess you could just be ignorant. Whatever it is it doesn’t help anything…ever. Retail is hard enough without having to deal with unfriendly people.Sometimes its very difficult to be nice and sometimes I don’t want to be nice. However I can usually keep my cool… but I can’t promise I can do that forever…so chill out and be nice people…after all you tend to get back what you give.
Consignment stores rely on two kinds of people. Those who sell clothes and those who buy clothes. When either side of this equation isn’t functioning properly the system cannot work. In order to sell something you must have buyers and in order to have buyers you must have something to sell. We have never had a shortage of sellers. They come in herds. Now buyers are coming slower. They are coming but not quick enough. Consignors should shop and shoppers should consign. And everyone needs to tell their friends, neighbors, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters about of our shop. Remember…once you are a consignor you have a vested interest in this shop. When we succeed you succeed. So next time you drop your clothes off take a minute and look around. Remember…every seller needs a buyer….
Wow what a day this has been! Tuesday’s are supposed to be slow..but not today… Some serious shoppers are out and we love it! this is how every day should be… full of hustle and bustle and energy. You know like it was before the economy tanked? Maybe this is a sign that things are coming back around. People are spending money again. The 4 major American car dealerships just reported today that auto sales are up 25% from last year at this same time. So that is cool…and a positive note for us. After all we do need shoppers if this small family owned business is going to succeed so please bring it on!! And thank you Tuesday!
Rachael’s back. Hayley’s back. And I’m back sort of… sometimes vacations seem harder on a body than no vacation at all. Why is that?? We wait all year for summer to come because with summer we believe comes joy and happiness. Then we plan our vacations in the summer so we can have sun with our joy and happiness. But summers and vacations alone are not what bring us happiness are they? It’s ourselves…it’s within us…it’s lurking there waiting for us to discover it and run with it….imagine if you were to find joy everywhere and in everything…just imagine what a summer vacation would be like then:)
Rachael’s going salmon fishing for the first time! she just left the shop and although she’s excited for her new adventure…she is sad to leave here. After all this shop is a living reflection of her incredible unstoppable imagination. She needed to go though. Everyone needs a vacation. And since Rachael thinks that commercial salmon fishing in Bristol bay Alaska, with a bucket for a toilet and a wooden bench for a bed, is vacationing then she should be relaxed and ready for work when she gets home…:) Make lots of money Rach!!! and have fun too…we love you!!
Wow I’d sure like to know how to spot a thief. I tend to trust everyone no matter what. You know what I mean…do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So I figure if I’m not hurting them then why should they want to hurt me? Well I’m finding that in retail that makes me naive and some say even stupid. So I’m learning, not happily I might add, to be suspicious. It’ makes me sad….
Does everyone have the same issues with Tuesdays? where does everyone go? I mean I’m here…where are you…where is your sister….your brother…your mother…your neighbor..? I don’t get it…it’s like the whole world hides. So what is it about Tuesdays? If you know let me know… please..in fact come on in on TUESDAY and tell me yourself…
OMG what a sunny day can do for your spirit! It’s as if a fog has been lifted from my head..and happy thoughts keep seeping in…. must be a way to save a piece of this for when the rains come back…(:
It’s the big day!!! Lots of happy sale shoppers, People waiting at the door at 10 this morning….kinda cool…seeing a lot of faces from yesterday…they can’t stay away!! come one come all…the sale lasts thru Monday….
So here we are in the 8th month of business. It’s busy today. People are shuffling around the store shopping and smiling. Everyone seems to be in the mood to buy….which is the opposite of what happened yesterday. I believe it was the slowest Friday since we opened. Retail is unpredictable…people are unpredictable. But that is what makes life so much more interesting. What if everything was always the same and you always knew exactly what was going to happen? Sure it would be easier but would it be as much fun? I’m here mostly for the ride…you know the journey. To me the destination is always second. So this journey of ours is predictably unpredictable. And I am ok with that…
